This past week, Maven had the pleasure of attending our first International Maintenance Conference (IMC) in Bonita Springs, Florida.  We met individuals from all over the world, from Johannesburg, South Africa to Bangalore, India. The IMC is catered toward maintenance leaders, asset managers and anyone who is involved with Condition Monitoring. As stated on their website, the IMC will benefit anyone who is responsible for planning, scheduling, managing, or implementing any part of an organization’s maintenance reliability, operational excellence, or asset management function.  The IMC emphasizes a focus on three separate forums: SAP, ISO 55000, and Maximo.  This year, Maven participated in the Maximo forum.

Monday included great presentations on topics ranging from Asset Management as a Strategic Initiative by John Murphy of CSX to Going live with Maximo 7.5 by George Boudreau and Paul Hamilton of Luminant Mining.  I found these presentations to be very informative and inviting. To wrap-up our first day at IMC, we were treated to a luau by the pool.

On Tuesday, we heard an informative keynote presentation, Making Something out of Nothing: Rapid Results in Maintenance and Reliability by Robert Schaffer, author of The Breakthrough Strategy. Following the keynote presentation, we received more informative talks such as Using Maximo to Avoid the Consequences of Missing Preventative Maintenance and Using Maximo to Manage Key Performance Indicators, both presentations provided by Projetech. To end Tuesday on a great note, we were provided with a Relaibility’s Got Talent – American Young Concert poolside.

In addition to the Maximo sessions, the IMC has continued to provide a wealth of maintenance information through its conclusion on Friday. Our attendance at IMC 2013 was a great experience – Maven is looking forward to participating in IMC-2014. You can find out more about the IMC conference at
