JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Cognos Report Developer is responsible for developing Cognos reports and dashboards to support our clients using IBM Maximo. In this role, you will lead the design, development, deployment, and management of new and existing reports and dashboards.
Contract, full-time, and part-time applicants are welcome. All work will be performed remotely, but the developer must be available for occasional meetings during North American business hours in various time zones. Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Candidates will be required to pass a criminal background check.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop and deploy new Cognos reports and dashboards
- Apply filters, prompts, fields, and sort parameters as needed
- Maintain and modify existing reports and dashboards
- Optimize performance of new and existing reports
- Communicate effectively with business users to obtain data and functional requirements as well as design approval
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of Business Intelligence (BI) best practices, relational structures, dimensional data modeling, SQL, and reporting techniques
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Cognos reporting and dashboard design practices
- Provide business documentation for each report designed or modified
- Use SVN and/or GIT for source control per Maven development standards
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Three or more years’ Cognos development experience
- Five or more years’ enterprise reporting experience (Cognos, BIRT, Tableau, etc.)
- B.S. or higher in business, technology, or engineering preferred, but demonstrated experience may be substituted at the hiring manager’s discretion
