1. Save the queries you use frequently, so you don’t have to perfect them every time. For example, if you frequently review completed work orders assigned to your team, you might find yourself navigating to the Work Order Tracking application and searching:

Status: COMP

Work Type: CM

Supervisor: MSMITH

Rather than enter your criteria every time, you can save this query and return to it quickly at any time. Click the Search Options menu in the toolbar, and then choose Save Current Query.

Give your query a name and description. The description, outlined below in red, will display in the left-hand navigation menu.

The next time you need to review your team’s completed work, simply select your new query from the navigation menu:

2. Schedule and send frequently-run reports. If you regularly run certain reports, perhaps distributing them to others, you can schedule these reports to run in the future – once or on a recurring basis. When selecting your report, navigate to the Schedule. If you’d like to send your report weekly, choose the Recurring option.

Click the magnifying glass to select your schedule.

Click OK to return to the report request. Now, enter an email recipient and message subject for the report. Click Submit when you’re done. Maximo will run and distribute your report according to your new schedule.

3. Use Maximo’s field help to understand how a data field is used. To learn more about how a field is used within Maximo, click on it, and then press Alt+F1. Maximo will display additional help for that field.

If you write reports or SQL queries, this field help will also tell you the database table and name of the field you’re viewing.
